Cabinet Office Non Executive Directors Announced

The Deputy Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Oliver Dowden MP, has appointed Janette Beinart, Marcus Boyle, Stephen Gordon-Dando and Jenni Myles as Non-Executive Board members for the Cabinet Office.

Lord Hogan Howe of Sheffield and Henry de Zoete have been reappointed for second terms.

The new non-executives have been appointed for three years and will provide independent advice, support and scrutiny on the departments work. The new board members will work with civil servants and ministers across the Cabinet Office, with a particular focus on digital transformation, strategic HR and government efficiency.

They join existing Non-Executive Board Members: Anand Aithal, Lead Non Executive; Michael Ashley, chair of the departments audit and risk committee; Michael Jary, Government Lead Non-Executive; and the reappointed Henry de Zoete and Lord Hogan Howe of Sheffield.

Non-Executive Board Members are ministerial appointments. All members of the Cabinet Office Board were appointed following open and fair competition.

Oliver Dowden, Deputy Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster said:

Our new board members bring a wealth of experience and expertise to add to the existing skill-set of our Board.

They will play a crucial role in ensuring the Cabinet Office is well placed to deliver the governments agenda, and I look forward to working closely with them.

Janette Beinart

With a background in information technology, Janette served most recently as interim Group Chief Information Officer (CIO) at savings and investment business M&G Prudential. Prior to this, Janette had a long international career at Shell International, culminating in the role of Global Upstream CIO. Janette is an economics graduate of the University of Cape Town.

Janette also sits as a non executive director on the Board of National Highways and chairs the Investment committee. She works with charities and leadership institutions providing strategic, leadership and board level advice and facilitation. She sat on the advisory committee to the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

Marcus Boyle

With extensive change management experience, Marcus has a track record of delivering step-change improvements for some of the worlds largest global businesses.

Marcus has been a partner for two leading global professional services firms, where he served as Board Member and Global Chief Strategy Officer. In 2021, he was appointed Chair of the Gambling Commission for a term of five years. He is a Trustee of the Serpentine Gallery and a Partner in Freston Ventures.

Stephen Gordon-Dando

Stephen has operated at scale in a wide range of HR leadership roles spanning both the public and private sectors. He was a Managing Director at Bain Capital until 2021, and is currently a Senior Adviser at the firm. He is also on the Trustee Board at National Museums Scotland. Prior to this, Stephen was Chief Human Resources Officer at Thomson Reuters, and Director, BBC People. Earlier in his career, he held HR roles at Diageo, United Distillers, Austin Rover and Ferranti.

He has also held various advisory and trustee roles, including at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, Engage for Success Foundation and the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.

Jenni Myles

Jenni is an HR leader with extensive experience in employee engagement, talent management and organisational development. She is currently Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer at KBR, and previously held HR leadership roles in G4S, culminating in Group HR Director. Jenni has a law degree from Glasgow University, and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.

Henry de Zoete

Is a tech entrepreneur and the co-founder of Look After My Bills, the largest auto-switching service in the UK, which was acquired by GoCo Group PLC (owners of GoCompare) in July 2019. He has previously served on the Board of grassroots campaigning organisation 38 Degrees (2015-2018), co-founded The Big Deal in 2014 - which uses tech to facilitate collective bargaining for consumers - and was a Special Adviser in the Department for Education (2010-2014) .

Lord Hogan-Howe, of Sheffield

Served as Commissioner for the London Metropolitan police between 2011-2017. Prior to this he was HM Inspector of Constabulary (2009-2011) and Chief Constable of Merseyside police (2004-2009).
