This document sets out DfEs positionon the use of generativeartificial intelligence (AI) including educational technology tools powered by generative AI and large language models such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot in the education sector.

It is aimed at schools and colleges, with a particular focus on AI use in compulsory education. However, many of these considerations will also be relevant to other educational stages.
