Guidance to help operators get the most out of longer semi-trailers (LSTs), and ensure that they are operated safely.

LSTs are being brought into general use after an extensive trial, public consultation and regulatory changes. As a new vehicle type, LSTs are subject to specific regulations.

All operators of LSTs should read the Road Vehicles (Authorisation of Special Types) (General) (Amendment) Order 2023 guide, which is the legal instrument that governs the use of LSTs.
