CMA accepts car auction undertakings

Competition and Markets Authority

On 1 December, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced that it would consider in detail undertakings proposed by BCA Marketplace (BCA) instead of referring the case for an in-depth merger investigation.

BCA Marketplace has offered to sell an auction site in Newcastle to a suitable buyer to remedy the competition concerns identified by the CMA.

The CMA proposes to accept the proposed undertakings, which it currently considers are appropriate to resolve its concerns.

Before reaching a final decision, the CMA carefully assessed and consulted publicly on the proposed undertakings. The CMA received one comment on the consultation which it carefully considered, and is satisfied that the undertakings will remedy the concerns identified.

The consultation on the undertakings and all other information relating to this investigation can be found on the case page.
