Details

This regulatory position statement (RPS) applies to temporarily storing the following waste on land other than where it was produced before its collection for recovery or disposal:

  • fly-tipped waste
  • waste taken from trash screens
  • waste from public litter bins

This RPS does not change your legal obligations to get an environmental permit for this activity.

However, the Environment Agency will not normally take enforcement action when you do this activity without an environmental permit if you comply with the requirements in this RPS.
