Details

These reports contain results from the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA)TBsurveillance in hotspots of TB in the Low Risk Area of England.

The Low Risk Area of England is an area with low and stable numbers of herds infected withTB. Hotspots are defined as areas where there are a group of breakdowns from an uncertain origin that need further investigation through enhanced cattle and wildlife surveillance.

Before 1 January 2024, areas were referred to as potential or confirmed hotspots, depending on whether infection had been identified in wildlife populations. This has now changed. APHA is now managing hotspots in stages covering cattle, and where relevant, wildlife. Further detail of how this is managed will be released in due course.
