Guidance: Rural payments applications: add a land parcel by email

Rural Payments Agency

January 31
00:15 2023

From 31 January 2023, you can add land by email. You need to:

  1. send us an email from an email address registered for a person in the business on the Rural Payments service, with at least BPS: Amend permission (for BPS and SFI) or CS Amend application permission asking us to add the land to your online application
  2. make sure Add Land is included in the subject heading of the email.

The email should include the following information.

  1. The SBI and name of the business the land should be linked to (as it appears on your online application)
  2. A brief reason for the request, for example to submit your application for BPS or CS (please specify the scheme)
  3. The land parcel reference numbers for the parcels you want to add. National Grid field numbers should be in the format of 2 letters followed by 8 numbers. For example, AB1234 5678
  4. Your name and contact number in case of any issues.

Send your email to: ruralpayments@defra.gov.uk

For BPS customers, we must receive your email by 2 May 2023 to make sure we can get back to you in time for you to complete your application by the 15 May 2023 deadline.

For CS customers, we will continue to work on requests to add land after 15 May 2023. An end date is not yet confirmed.

We will send an email (to the email address that the request was sent from) after the change has been made. In some cases, for example the land has an outstanding mapping change, we may not be able to link the parcel to your SBI. If this happens, we will email you and provide a link to the continuation sheets that you will need. Please post any completed continuation sheets to us as we are unable to accept them by email.
