This major tender is to find a number of suppliers to provide learning and development for over 400,000 civil servants across the country. It will ensure civil servants across government have access to learning and development that continues to build the Civil Services capability to deliver great public services.

The tender will be split into a number of contracts to give more flexibility, provide better value for money and guarantee a consistently high-quality service. This approach will also make it easier for small businesses to bid. The first phase will go out to tender in the next few weeks.

The contracts will be tendered through the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) on behalf of Civil Service Learning, which offers a core curriculum for civil servants.

Matthew Hancock, Minister for the Cabinet Office, said:

It is absolutely imperative that we deliver the best value public services for taxpayers. To remain the best in the world, the Civil Service needs to change and adapt to the challenges and opportunities we face. These new contracts will help us provide quality learning and development to build strong leadership and highly skilled civil servants, to help them serve the people of Britain to the best of our ability, while opening up public sector business to smaller businesses through our dynamic commercial reforms.
