HMCTS Update for week commencing Monday 13 November 2023

General

  • Update: Our courts and tribunals will temporarily close over the Christmas period, although some sites may be open on certain days for particular types of work. The closure dates are:

    • Monday 25 December 2023
    • Tuesday 26 December 2023
    • Wednesday 27 December 2023
    • Monday 1 January 2024
  • Update: Clerks play a vital role in allowing judges to deliver justice efficiently and fairly.Weve released a short video describing the work done by one of our clerks as she provides an insight into her unique role.

  • Update: Mike Williams, our Deputy Director of Service Excellence attended the Discrimination Law Association conference last week. Hediscussed accessibility at court and the support we provide those who require reasonable adjustments.He alsoreiterated our commitment to ensuring justice is available to all.

Crime

  • Update: From Monday 13 November, all British Transport Police (BTP) cases in the following regions will be managed on Common Platform:

    • the north east
    • the midlands
    • the south west
    • the south east
    • London
  • Please direct any queries about Common Platform cases in the magistrates court in all these regions including BTP cases to our service centre :

Family

  • Reminder: Since Monday 6 November, our Court and Tribunal Service Centre are answering phone calls and webchat enquiries relating to divorce applications between 10am to 6pm. Please remember that you can check the progress of your application by logging on to your MyHMCTS dashboard.
